​Vickie Young Weatherspoon, M.Ed.
      Executive Director

                

​Mrs. Weatherspoon is the Executive Director of ​Crystal Visions Academy for Special Education Advocacy. Her exceptional career serving in the Special Education Department in the Houston Independent and Cypress Fairbanks School districts in Houston, Texas served as the catalyst for becoming a leading advocate for all stakeholders to maximize the learning heart and meet the needs of students with disabilities and stakeholders.  She has served in several critical roles including Special Education Department Chair and teacher as well as Dyslexia and English Language Arts Interventionist.  As a Special Education teacher, she started in Life Skills, and advanced to serve in the Adaptive Behavior, Resource, and co-teaching classrooms.  In addition, she served as Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) Coordinator and teacher.  AVID is an initiative to prepare students for four-year college eligibility.  She partnered with the University of Houston to provide tutoring at the campus, accompanied students on university campus and Texas Department of Public Safety tours.

Mrs. Weatherspoon's former clients included Houston 's Berlitz Language Center where she was the English as a Second Language (ESL) Instructor and named instructor of the year.  She also served as a master academic tutor for Texas Tutor Professionals, Houston, Texas.  She has worked extensively with the San Antonio Regional Occupational Program (ROP), Junior Achievement, Choices Internship program, the San Diego Leadership Institute and BOSS The Movement Entrepreneurs training and development programs in San Diego and Los Angeles, California.

In addition to her distinguished career in education,  Mrs. Weatherspoon also served as Vice President & Senior Property Manager, Bank of America Corporate Real Estate Management Department Bank, Los Angeles, California where she managed the statewide real estate portfolio for property management.  Her responsibilities included managing over 200 service contractors.  She also was a managing partner at Weatherspoon’s Professional Janitorial Service, a family owned and operated custodial service firm in Arizona and California.  She was the Chief Financial Officer and Human Resource director for over 150 employees. 

Mrs. Weatherspoon earned a Master's in Educational Leadership and Principal certification, University of St. Thomas and Masters in Educational Studies, University of Phoenix, Houston, Texas and Bachelors in Business Administration, University of Phoenix, Ontario, California.  She has received numerous citations for excellence in leadership relating to academia partnerships for youth and adult education and the small business arena.  She was listed among "100 Most Promising Black Women in Corporate America” Ebony Magazine 1991 edition.  She is married and the proud grandmother of her only daughter's three sons.
